Scambaiting:

Without a doubt, the most impressive scambaiter out there is Anthony, a.k.a. Butch Driveshaft. He is highly successful at having wasted tens of thousands of dollars of the scammer's money by selling them "goods", which ends up being really heavy junk that they have to pay overseas shipping for in advance. He operates "the ScamBaiter", a scambaiter community web site with over 20,000 members! Check out this piece on Fox News in Boston on him.

If scambaiters were rockstars, then the Ebola Monkey Man would be Jimmi Hendrix! He's a pioneer who took the art to whole new level when everyone else was too politically correct to take a chance.

So many scammers, so little time! Miss Young is undoubtedly the most ambitous scambaiter around, juggling more scammers at a time than you can shake a Western Union receipt at!

If you've baited a scammer and he demands your phone number, one option is to give him a pay phone number that still accepts incoming calls. Hardly any still do, but you can find some in the northern states such as Montana and Idaho:

The inspiration behind Frank Rizzo is my favorite Jerky Boys character by the same name. They are by far the most famous prank callers, and their albums are the most successful comedy albums of all time:

Pete Dzoghi is the genious behind my next favorite prank caller. He came up with the brilliant idea of purchasing 1-800 numbers that were just one digit off from the numbers of big companies, such as UPS. By doing so, he would intercept misdialed numbers to these companies and then pretend to be working in customer service at that company, disguising his voice with an electronic pitch transponder for different characters. Absolutely brilliant and hilarious!
